In addition to the printed resource, we have labored to create an even more comprehensive digital version for the internet.

This web site has been designed as a "mirror" of the publication. However, the 84 pages of that book have been more than doubled on the web, and with audio, video and a seemingly endless number of links to "third-party" sites offering additional and detailed information, we feel the web site stands uniquely on its own. The book is a good adjunct reference, but not a requirement to take full advantage of the information contained in the web pages.

We are committed to providing a useful and error-free resource. Realistically though, we know that information becomes dated and links "go bad."

If you detect an error or omission in either the web site or book, or you would simply like to offer a suggestion, we welcome your input.

We also truly appreciate your comments.

Testimonials:

I have been involved in workforce development and education initiatives in this area for over 15 years. Sweet Results, for the first time ever, pulls together all the resources specific to our area into one neat package that is easy to use. WIA has brought us One-Stops and Mark Drnek has brought us Sweet Results!

- Glenda Roberts, Director of Business and Community Services, SUNY Delhi

With almost 12 years at the Chamber and six years on the WIB Board, I believe this is one of the shining examples of joint partnership to bring employers and employees forward toward our common goals. We have added it to our relocation package as it is an excellent resource for both employers and employees looking to connect to the region. It is also great for our current businesses, citizens and entrepreneurs looking to advance themselves.

- Rob Robinson, President and CEO, Otsego County Chamber

I am a job developer for The Arc Otsego, Community Employment Services Program. Our organization also contracts with VESID to help individuals who have various types of disabilities find jobs. I wanted to let you know that I give your booklet to anyone I work with and encourage them to view your website. I think it is a wonderful resource. You've done a great job and a wonderful service for job seekers.

- Anne Potter, Job Developer, The ARC Otsego

Lots of people enter the field of education because they want to "make a difference."  Although Mark Drnek may not be an educator, per se, we all have a lot to learn from him.  Sweet Results, in both written and web-based form, is a testimony to his commitment to making a difference in our schools and community.  The resources collected there are invaluable curriculum tools in life's real lessons about participating in the world of real work in our region.  We are indebted to him and the sweet results of his hard work and initiative. What a terrific role model for our students!

- Dr. Marie Wiles, Superintendent, ONC BOCES

Workforce development is an integral part of all Economic Development efforts. Mark Drnek's Sweet Results is an outstanding publication, filled with valuable information regarding the development and sustainability of workforce in our area. This publication and complimentary website provides people with resources for all stages of career and skill training. The publication provides both job seekers and area employers with resources and techniques for training new employees, retaining existing employees and encouraging and supporting entrepreneurs. Sweet Results goes far beyond simply listing available resources and providing contact information. It is a fully integrated approach to understanding career development. From highlighting the many partners involved in economic development and explaining the services they provide to employment profiles to labor trends, Sweet Results is your "one stop" guide to job attainment and career success.

I encourage everyone, employers, educational institutions, job seekers, to take advantage of the Sweet Results website and publication. I am confident you will find a tremendous wealth of information and opportunities.

- Carolyn Lewis, Otsego County Economic Developer

Sweet Results is a tremendously valuable resource to our office in counseling students about the local employer market. Students will find the book and website extremely useful whether they are exploring local labor trends for a class, exploring local employers for future internship opportunities, or contemplating staying in the Upstate New York region for their first career. I haven’t seen a more comprehensive guide to this area, and wished this information was available in such an easy format for other New York regions (i.e., Albany). I would love to see this resource grow, and become the “go to place” for employment and internship opportunities for our region!

- Shannon Forbes, Director of Career Services, Hartwick College
